Investigation into the deaths of two Peshtigo people is now over, according to Marinette County Coroner George Smith and Peshtigo Police Chief Kent Kline.

Renee Furst and her son, Michael, were found dead in their trailer located at 1100 French Street, Lot 44 on Sunday, March 6. At the time of death 24 year old Michael, who had cerebral palsy, weighed only 36 pounds.

Mark Weteck, a forensic pathologist in his determination said that Michael was starved to death at the hands of his mother, Renee. The cause of death of Renee was likely a drug overdose complicated by other medical conditions.

Joseph Furst, according to the Peshtigo Police report, when he discovered Michael and his mother dead in the trailer on March 6 he immediately called authorities. Peshtigo Police Officer Jason Christianson was first on the scene and found Michael in bed in the living room of the trailer under blankets.
