Five felony charges, including human trafficking, have been filed against an Oconto County man alleged to have sexually assaulted an area woman.

Duane C. Patz, 51, of Coleman, faces a maximum sentence of nearly 90 years on the counts.

Human trafficking occurs when a person controls or threatens to control any individual's access to an addictive controlled substance, according to the complaint.

The charges relate to an alleged incident Feb. 7 at Patz's home in the town of Brazeau.

He will have a preliminary hearing Monday, Feb. 29, at 1:30 p.m. in Oconto County Circuit Court before Judge Jay Conley on seven charges arising from the alleged incidents.

Patz had an initial appearance Monday, Feb. 22, and requested a preliminary hearing before Judge Michael Judge who set a cash bond of $25,000. He is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, no computers, no alcohol, no illegal drugs and paraphernalia conditions.

According to court records, he is charged with felony counts of human trafficking, second degree sex assault of an intoxicated victim, first degree recklessly endangering safety, strangulation and suffocation and false imprisonment, plus misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct.
