GROVER — A tense situation in Marinette County ended peacefully after an armed standoff Sunday, according to police.

The Marinette County Sheriff's office says it was called to a home in the 4300-block of County Road W in Grover around 11:00 a.m. for a domestic incident.

"(The) female was pretty frantic over the situation and she requested immediate assistance," said Marinette County Sheriff's Deputy Fred Popp.

Popp says there were a number of other people inside the house, including small children. Eventually, a negotiator talked the armed man into surrendering to police at about 2:30 p.m.

It was reported by two Pound area residents at about 2:45 p.m. Jan. 10 that they observed about 12 police cars in high pursuit drive past County Trunk W and Highway 64 east before the top of the hill.

Apparently, something was going down at the house located on the north side of the road. Possibly an active shooter or a drug bust. Apparently, a man was threatening law enforcement with a gun, and then fled into the woods.
