TOWN OF BEAVER — A Gillett teenager was killed June 6, 2015 in a crash that seriously injured his cousin and a friend, both of the Coleman/Pound area and both state-placing wrestlers from Coleman High School.

The crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m. The vehicle was northbound on 41st Road near West 4th Road, when it failed to negotiate a curve, entered the ditch and rolled over. Wyatt Schaal was pronounced dead at the scene.

Schaal had just completed his junior year at Gillett High School, said principal Steve Linssen.

Airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay were Jensyn B. Schaal, 18, of Gillett, and Kevin M. Lansin, 17, of Coleman.

Jensyn had just graduated May 30 from Coleman High School, where he open enrolled, said principal Doug Polomis. Lansin will be a senior next year.

Both boys were members of the Coleman wrestling team, and competed at the state tournament in March. Schaal placed third in Division 3 at 132 pounds, while Lansin was fourth at 152 in his first state appearance.

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve previously said speed was believed to be a contributing factor in the accident.
