Fire Causes Heavy Damage at Crivitz Supper Club

Structure Fire: Shaffer's Restaurant, Shaffer Road, Town of Stephenson, Marinette County.

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reports that at 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 5 an alert went out to a Marinette County Sheriff's Deputy on patrol who noticed smoke coming from south side of the structure of Shaffer's Supper Club. Fire departments responded and began battling the blaze which they were able to contain and extinguish after hours of effort.

The landmark structure sustained major damage in the fire. Several portions of the roof collapsed. No injuries were reported in the fire or the fire fighting effort. The origin of the fire is undetermined at this time. The Town of Stephenson Fire Department and the Sheriff s office will be continuing to investigate.

Assisting the Town of Stephenson Fire Department were the Athelstane, Lake, Silver Cliff and Crivitz fire departments. Also assisting at the scene are the Sheriff s Auxiliary, Crivitz Rescue Squad, and the Wisconsin Public Service Corporation.

Crews are investigating a fire that caused heavy damage at a famous restaurant in the Crivitz area.

On the morning of Sept. 5, crews battled a blaze at the Shaffer Park Supper Club on Shaffer Rd., five miles west of Crivitz, Wis.

Action 2 News reporter Clare Kaley took photos showing large holes in the building's roof.
