American Transmission Co. suggested two routes for building transmission lines from north of Appleton to south of Oconto Falls.

The company filed an application Thursday with the state Public Service Commission for its Bay Lake Project, which includes 40- to 48-mile 345-kilovolt and 138-kilovolt transmission lines. The application includes two basic corridors, with multiple variations within those corridors, to be chosen by the commission.

The project also would include upgrades to substations near Appleton and Oconto Falls, a new substation in Marinette County and work at 11 other substations in Wisconsin and Michigan.
