PESHTIGO - A Peshtigo woman who dedicated her life to protecting victims of domestic violence is dead and authorities say the person of interest in her death is her boyfriend.

Police say 45-year-old Patricia Waschbisch was found dead shortly after 7 p.m. (April 28) Sunday night at her home on the 500 block of Thompson Street.

The State Department of Justice says Brent Kaempf, 48, was taken into custody overnight for questioning.
Police aren't saying much, except Waschbisch and Kaempf were in a relationship. They have not said what may have led to Waschbisch's death.

Those who worked with Waschbisch in the domestic violence community say there will be a lot to mourn. A 48-year-old man was in custody Monday, April 29 as a person of interest in a Peshtigo homicide.
